How to use this tool

  • Add an image. A crop box appears over it.
  • Choose an aspect ratio, then drag the box to move it and the round handle to resize it. On a keyboard, focus the box and use the arrow keys (Shift + arrows to resize).
  • Or type the left, top, width and height in pixels. Download the result from the preview.

How it works

Aspect ratio presets start with the largest centred rectangle of that shape: if the image is wider than the ratio, the full height is kept and the sides are trimmed, otherwise the full width is kept. The chosen pixels are copied exactly at full resolution — cropping does not resample the image.

Example

A square profile picture

On a 4000 × 3000 photo, the 1:1 preset selects a 3000 × 3000 square starting 500 px from the left.

Privacy and limitations

  • Cropping happens on your device; nothing is uploaded.
  • Saving as JPEG re-compresses the image slightly; choose PNG to keep it lossless.
  • The largest output is about 16.7 megapixels.

Frequently asked questions

What aspect ratio do social networks use?

Common choices are 1:1 for profile pictures and square posts, 4:5 for portrait feed posts, 16:9 for video thumbnails and banners, and 9:16 for stories. Check each platform’s current guidelines.

Does cropping reduce quality?

No — the kept pixels are copied exactly. Only saving to a lossy format such as JPEG adds compression.
