Paste a list to sort it.

How to use this tool

  • Paste one item per line and choose a sort order.
  • Natural order sorts numbers inside text by value, so item2 comes before item10.
  • Tick Remove duplicates or Case-sensitive as needed. Shuffle uses a secure random generator.

How it works

Alphabetical sorting uses language-aware comparison (Intl.Collator), so accented letters sort sensibly. Natural order compares runs of digits as numbers. Shuffling uses the Fisher–Yates algorithm, which gives every order an equal chance.

Example

Natural order

item10, item2, item1 sorted naturally gives item1, item2, item10 — a plain alphabetical sort would give item1, item10, item2.

Privacy and limitations

  • Sorting happens in your browser; nothing is uploaded.
  • Alphabetical order follows English collation rules; other languages may order some letters differently.

Frequently asked questions

Why does Z come before a in some sorters?

Simple byte-order sorting puts all capitals before lowercase letters. This tool ignores case by default unless you tick Case-sensitive.

Is the shuffle truly random?

It uses your browser’s cryptographically secure random number generator with the Fisher–Yates algorithm.
