How to use this tool

  • Add up to 100 images.
  • Choose JPEG or WebP and a quality (75% is a good start). Set a Maximum width such as 1920 px to shrink large photos further.
  • Keep Keep the original if compression makes it bigger ticked so already-optimised files are never made worse.
  • Select Compress all, then download the files or the ZIP.

How it works

Each image is redrawn and re-encoded with your browser’s JPEG or WebP encoder at the chosen quality, one at a time. If an image is not resized and the result would be larger than the original, the original file is kept instead.

Example

A folder of phone photos

Twenty 3–5 MB phone photos compressed to JPEG at 75% with a 1920 px maximum width typically end up a few hundred kilobytes each — often 85–95% smaller overall. Results depend on the photos.

Privacy and limitations

  • Compression happens on your device; nothing is uploaded.
  • JPEG has no transparency, so transparent areas become white. Some older browsers cannot create WebP and fall back to PNG.
  • Re-compressing an already compressed JPEG always loses a little quality.

Frequently asked questions

Which quality should I choose?

For photos viewed on screen, 70–85% is usually indistinguishable from the original. Use the single Image Compressor to preview a setting first.

Does it remove metadata?

Yes — re-encoded images do not keep EXIF data such as GPS location. Originals that are kept unchanged still contain their metadata.
