Result

Enter your shifts to total the hours.

How to use this calculator

  • Enter each shift’s start and end time (9:00, 5:30 pm and 17:30 all work) and its unpaid break.
  • Add an hourly rate and overtime rules to see pay.

Formula

Worked time = end − start − break. If the end is earlier than the start, the shift ends the next day. Hours above the weekly threshold are paid at the overtime multiplier.

Worked example

A standard week

Five shifts of 9:00–17:30 with 30-minute breaks total 40 hours; at 20 an hour that is 800. Six 8-hour shifts are 48 hours: 40 regular + 8 overtime at 1.5× = 1,040.

Assumptions and limitations

  • Everything runs in your browser; nothing you enter is uploaded or stored.
  • Overtime is calculated on total hours; some places also have daily overtime rules.
