SIP Calculator
Work out what a systematic investment plan (SIP) — a fixed amount invested every month — could grow to, including a yearly step-up.
Result
Enter a monthly investment, return and period.
How to use this calculator
- Enter the monthly amount, expected annual return and number of years.
- Optionally add a yearly step-up (raising the instalment each year) and a lump sum invested at the start.
Formula
This uses the standard SIP formula: FV = P × [((1 + i)ⁿ − 1) ÷ i] × (1 + i), where i is the annual return ÷ 12 and n is the number of months — each instalment is invested at the start of the month. With a step-up, the instalment rises once a year.
Worked example
5,000 a month for 10 years at 12%
Invested 6,00,000 (600,000) grows to about 11,61,695 (1,161,695).
Assumptions and limitations
- Everything runs in your browser; nothing you enter is uploaded or stored.
- Mutual fund returns vary and are not guaranteed. Expense ratios, exit loads and taxes are not included.
Frequently asked questions
Is SIP better than a lump sum?
A lump sum benefits more if markets rise steadily; a SIP spreads your purchase price over time (rupee or dollar cost averaging), which reduces timing risk.
What is a step-up SIP?
Increasing your monthly SIP by a fixed percentage each year, usually as your income grows. Even 10% a year makes a large difference over long periods.
