Random Number Generator
Pick one or up to 1,000 random numbers in any range — whole numbers or decimals, with an option for no repeats and sorted results.
Result
Set a range and select Generate.
How to use this calculator
- Set the minimum and maximum (both included).
- Choose how many numbers you need and whether they should be whole numbers or decimals.
- Tick No repeats for draws such as raffles, and Sort to order the results. Press Generate for a new draw.
Formula
Random values come from the browser’s Web Crypto API (crypto.getRandomValues), a cryptographically secure source.
For whole numbers: value = min + floor(r × (max − min + 1)), where r is uniform in [0, 1). Every whole number in the range is equally likely.
With No repeats, numbers already drawn are discarded and redrawn.
Worked example
Rolling a die
Minimum 1, maximum 6, one whole number. Each face has a 1 in 6 chance.
Drawing raffle tickets
Minimum 1, maximum 500, five numbers, No repeats ticked: five different ticket numbers are drawn.
Assumptions and limitations
- Numbers are generated in your browser and are not recorded.
- For official lotteries, legal draws or security keys, use a process that meets the relevant rules.
- Decimal results are rounded to the number of places you choose.
Frequently asked questions
Are the numbers truly random?
They come from your browser’s cryptographically secure generator, which is suitable for games, sampling and draws. It is not a certified hardware random source.
Can I get the same number twice?
Yes, unless you tick “No repeats”. With repeats allowed, each draw is independent.
